Therapy should be a place where you feel understood

Being LGBTQ+ may be central to why you're looking for therapy, or it may have very little to do with what brings you in.

You might be questioning your gender, working through religious trauma, or trying to find your place in queer community. Or you may be coming to therapy for trauma, depression, relationships, or something else and simply want a therapist who understands LGBTQ+ experience.

I'm familiar with LGBTQ+ experience and community, so we can focus on what actually brings you to therapy without making your gender or sexuality the problem. I can help you understand and honor who you are, feel freer to live life on your own terms, and feel safer being known and connected to other people.

  • Questioning your gender

If you're questioning your gender, we can explore what's leading you to wonder and sort through the expectations, fears, and self-doubt that may make it harder to know what feels right. I'm not here to decide your identity for you or push you toward a particular answer. I'll help you understand yourself, trust your own judgment, and figure out how you want to live.

  • Religious trauma

The effects of a controlling religious environment can stay with you long after you've left. If you grew up with homophobia, rigid gender roles, or little autonomy and privacy, you may still carry shame, fear, or rules about who you're allowed to be. We can work through those messages, help you separate what you were taught from what you actually believe and want for yourself, and build a stronger sense that your life and choices belong to you.

  • Coming out later in life

Realizing you're queer later in life can bring possibility alongside grief. You may think about the years you could have spent knowing yourself differently or experiencing love and relationships differently, while also wondering whether you'll fit into queer community now. Therapy can give you room for however you’re feeling while helping you figure out what you want your life and relationships to look like.
